Last year, we made considerable progress in the development of our Xtos terminal operating system. Our work focused on optimizing cooperation at the terminal, which was automated across all areas. In our view, the results are impressive. Find out in the following section how the combination of integrated yard management with a digital check-in counter and a transport management system can increase efficiency at the terminal enormously.
Data exchange between Yard Management (``Yard Planner``), DigiCounter and Transport Management.
Yard Management
As a first step, we implemented new functions in the Yard Management System (YMS) that enable the management and precise localization of containers in the yard. Van carrier (VC) drivers can now use mobile devices to find a suitable location for the loaded container and are guided there via navigation. The parameters for the positioned containers in the yard are stored in Xtos and seamlessly linked to the digital registration counter and the transport management system. All data are constantly updated and are accessible to all parties involved. Real-time location monitoring ensures transparency and leads to considerable time savings and the avoidance of errors and delays.
DigiCounter
Our “DigiCounter” is a further innovation. This digital reception desk at the terminal is also connected to our Xtos terminal operating system. The truck driver registers by scanning his ID card at the DigiCounter. The driver then enters a reference number to find the loaded order in Xtos. License plate number and transport company must be indicated on the terminal for easy identification of the truck before the driver receives a ticket with all relevant information for his transport. A PIN is required to collect a full container. He receives the exact location of the container through YMS, whereby the data is also updated and made visible to all users involved after the container has been picked up and left the terminal. When leaving the terminal, the driver only has to scan the ticket given at the entrance and the process is completed in the system.
Transport Management
Our aim was to provide digital support for the entire process at the terminal. That’s why we developed a transport management system for the follow-up process and integrated it seamlessly into the operational system for the terminal. Our customers now have the option of organizing and coordinating the transports following the terminal process without further data collection.
